Plot

Alice is living in a politically volatile South American country (does Hollywood make 'em any other way?) married to an engineer with dreams of helping the people, but when he is kidnapped and held for ransom the only person she can turn to is hostage retrieval expert Terry Thorne, and it's not long before the two are giving each other the sort of lingering looks that don't bode well for a platonic relationship. It all sounds very cheesy and on one level Proof Of Life certainly is, but there's also genuine tension, some great action sequences and a mercifully repressed romance.
