Plot
A big Hollywood movie crew descend upon the sleepy town of Waterford to film an idealistic and naive young writer's first book. The crew, and in particular the director, find themselves stumbling from one disaster to another; a starlet who's no longer prepared to fulfill her contract, a leading man who can't resist teenage skirt and a local government worker with aspirations towards the senate are but a selection of their problems. State and Main is written by David Mamet with what can only be bitter first hand experience. A sharp witty script and some fine performances breathe real life into a story populated almost entirely by varying degrees of absurdist characters. A bit of class.
