The professional American footballers are on strike and there is a desperate need to find an alternative to fill the gap. Coach Jimmy McGinty manages to cobble together a ragbag of unlikely replacements, including a has-been quarterback and a permanently strung out kicker, in an attempt to provide the frustrated punters with some form of entertainment. The replacements is an oddly underachieving comedy considering the cast, but it's a funny enough way to pass the time, without feeling completely cheated.
