It's 2020 and the first manned mission to Mars lands on the surface of the planet but is decimated by a mysterious force. NASA launches a rescue mission, and driven by the bonds of deep friendship the crew struggle to reach the planet, little knowing the amazing discovery that awaits them. Oh deary, deary me, Mission to Mars is quite a mystery in itself; a great cast, an intriguing idea, a competent director and a decent budget have turned out a turgid drama with a script that an 'E' movie 1950's western would have balked at; It's not a complete disaster but it's a pretty impressive disappointment.
