A slickly made horror/thriller starring Patricia Arquette as Frankie, a devil may care individual whose life takes a distinct turn for the worse when she begins to suffer the same wounds as the crucified Jesus Christ - stigmata. With the help of the Pope's numero uno trouble shooter Father Kiernan (Byrne) who is hindered by a Machiavellian Cardinal, it becomes clear that Frankie is being used as the vessel to send an earth shattering message to the world that will change the destiny of humankind forever. Stigmata has high production values, an interesting premise and a good cast. Mainstream but excellent.
