BRINGING OUT THE DEAD (1999)
MARTIN SCORSESE
Plot
Frank is a New York paramedic working the graveyard shift in Hell's Kitchen. He is increasingly haunted by the carnage he has seen and is vaguely aware in the frazzled reseses of his mind that he is going insane. "Bringing Out The Dead" covers three chaotic nights in Frank's life, as he and three partners tear across the city in a constantly losing battle to save the underbelly of the city's society. This is a pretty good return to form for Scorsese, who drags a fine performance out of Nicholas Cage, but its mortuary style sense of humour and the often graphic depiction of the paramedics work will not be to everyone's taste. A fine movie.
