Plot
Two fallen angels trapped on earth find a gateway back into heaven, if they manage to get through it they will have proved God wrong, and the very fabric of our existence depends on God never being wrong...apparently. Kevin Smith's fourth film has all the surreal ingredients to be an absolutely blinding satire, but it's almost as if he gets carried away with his glittering cast, giving too much time to too many characters. The angels as confused, embittered, young men, desperate to escape the banality of humanity are excellent, but the story as a whole often becomes lost, the difficulty of tackling something as complicated and contradictory as Christianity. Flawed certainly, but still wittier and more imaginative than many a comedy you'll see this year.
