HAPPY TEXAS (1999)
MARK ILLSLEY
Plot
Cheap and cheerful comedy gem, made for under one million bucks but none the worse for it. Jeremy Northam and rising star Steve Zahn play a couple of chain-gang escapees who pose as gay lovers while planning a bank robbery, and wind up organising a junior beauty pageant, choreography and all. William H. Macy almost, though not quite, steals the show as the sexually confused local sheriff, while Zahn manages to be endearing rather than irritating in his goofball role.
