Plot

Based on Michael Chrichton's novel "Eaters of the Dead" (a rewrite of olde English saga "Beowulf"), this 10th Century romp sees Antonio Banderas piling on the slap as Arab ambassador Ahmed Ibn Fahdlan, who's reluctantly recruited by a bunch of Vikings to make up their thirteenth member in order to fulfil a prophecy. Marauding hairies and gruesome dismemberments abound as the heroic warriors battle to protect a far-flung kingdom from a tribe of vicious, torch-wielding cannibals. Messy, but plenty of action.
