So, was Nick Leeson a hapless scapecoat and victim of Thatcherism, or just a greedy prat who deserved everything he got? This movie would have us believe the former, taking, as it does, great pains to portray his humble working-class origins. Ewan McGregor does his best as the Watford boy who wound up way over his head on the Singapore International Money Exchange and eventually caused the collapse of Barings, the oldest private bank in the world.
