AT FIRST SIGHT (1998)
ORWIN WINKLER
Plot
Overworked, burnt out architect Amy Bonic (Sorvino) falls in love with a blind masseur Virgil (Kilmer) when they meet at a health farm. Having heard of an operation that could possibly restore Virgil's sight, Amy persuades him to undergo the pioneering procedure. When the bandages come off, Virgil discovers that he can see for the first time since he was three. Faced with strange and unfamiliar images Virgil struggles to deal with reality. Although the premise is an extremely promising one the movie quickly becomes bogged down in the sappy script. The result is an enjoyable but rather turgid affair.
