Eastwood both directs and stars in this tense, slow-burning thriller. He plays Steve Everett, a has-been journalist with a murky private life who's asked to write the routine story of a Death Row prisoner. But, with the execution only 12 hours away, Everett begins to unearth evidence which could prove the condemned man's innocence. A taut, involving thriller.
