It's the 16th Century, and Veronica Franco falls in love with Marco Venier, but Venier is from a rich family and his parents are against their marriage. Veronica is advised by mum Paola to follow her example and become a high class courtesan, a position of power as it allows her access to the rich and mighty and her brains are a match for any of them. She becomes a feared Venitian woman, who battles against the male dominated social order, and a heroine when she helps convince France to aid Venice in war with Turkey. A historical drama about love and power with an extremely witty script.
