PATCH ADAMS (1998)
TOM SHADYAC
Plot
It may be based on a true story, but anyone with an aversion to Hollywood sentimentality should avoid this at all costs. Robin Williams (who else?) plays the profoundly irritating Dr Adams, a medic who treats his patients' suffering with red noses and other amusing comedy props. Strangely, his methods meet with a certain amount of contention amongst his professional colleagues, but you just know that the doc's "irrepressible" sense of humour will win them over in the end. Pass the bucket.
