Team up a cheeky Chinese martial arts superstar with an American comedian, stick 'em in a buddy-action caper and you're virtually guaranteed a box-office blockbuster. Which is just what happens when Hong Kong cop Jackie Chan arrives in L.A to investigate the kidnapping of the U.S consul's daughter. Partnered with the profoundly irritating Chris Tucker, maximum mileage is extracted from Chan's geographically challenged status, though you'd think a black L.A cop might have met a Chinese person before. Less face-pulling and more fighting would have improved things no end.
