The always excellent, but occasionally dreary, Ken Loach delivers a truly gripping human drama set in the seedier side of Glasgow. Jobless Joe (a superb performance from Peter Mullan) is a recovering alcoholic who manages the crappest football team in Scotland whilst attempting to stay on the straight and narrow. An initially unlikely-looking alliance with wary care worker Sarah turns into a touching romance, but, when one of Joe's players gets him involved with the local lowlife, events start to spiral out of control.
