Big, glossy Hollywood update of Hitchcock's classic thriller "Dial M for Murder". Always reliable Michael Douglas plays the cold-hearted, cuckolded husband who, on discovering his young wife's infidelity, seizes the opportunity to have her bumped off. Manipulating her lover, who himself is not quite what he seems, into performing the dirty deed, Douglas concocts a ridiculously complicated plan to get shot of her, ensuring for himself a perfect alibi. But, wouldn't you know it, it all goes horribly wrong when the little woman, a vacant looking Gwyneth Paltrow, puts a spanner in the works by overcoming her attacker. Slickly executed, but nowhere near as suspenseful as the original.
