The backdrop to super-stylish director Spike Lee's latest offering is a subject very close to his heart - basketball - but the story itself is much more about relationships, between young and old, father and son, and integrity and money. Jake (Denzel Washington) is banged up for murdering his wife, but a chance of freedom comes when he's given seven days to persuade the nation's newest basketball sensation - his own estranged son Jesus - to sign up with the prison governer's sponsored team. A bid that seems impossible when bitter tensions and recriminations surface between man and boy. Superbly scripted and firmly stamped with Lee's inimitable style.
