LETHAL WEAPON 4 (1998)
RICHARD DONNER
Plot
It had to happen. Gibson and Glover have mutated into the Grumpy Old Men, with guns. The former action heroes with an impressive repertoire of one-liners reunite to cruise through this latest, decidedly undemanding, addition to the LW franchise. Danny Glover is still the devoted family man (think Bill Cosby with attitude), though Gibson's cute Kamikaze streak has faded somewhat, whilst their reformed gangster cohort Joe Pesci is as lovably offensive as ever. Plotwise, it's all pretty by the way (though Jet Li is admirable as the evil Triad leader of a white slavery gang), but there are some awesome set pieces and, if you're after some high-octane, humourous Hollywood hokum, you won't be disappointed.
