Low-key thriller with Gwyneth Paltrow as an unsuspecting young bride who marries the man of her dreams but gets saddled with the mother-in-law from hell. Helen's looking forward to a life of domestic bliss when she moves with her handsome new hubby to his family's country home, but she's reckoned without Martha, (Jessica Lange) who definitely believes that a boy's best friend is his mother, and she's not about to give up her son without a fight. An excellent cast but, somehow, it never quite comes to the boil.
