Our hero Wong Fei Hung travels to Guangzhou from Hong Kong in 1895 to attend a medical conference, but finds himself caught between Sun Yat-Sen's struggle to overthrow imperial rule and the fanatical xenophobia of a mystical "boxing" sect called the White Lotus Clan.
