GOOD WILL HUNTING (1997)
GUS VAN SANT
Plot
Matt Damon plays Will Hunting, a working class kid with hangups who hangs out with his mates, hiding his genius and anonymously solving difficult problems left on the blackboard of the university where he works as a janitor. Hunting also seems to have read every book ever written and can quote huge chunks at will, but he refuses to use this talent and looks headed for reform school, etc. So in steps failed psycho-academic, Williams, suitably restrained in the part, to act as his shrink and babble lessons of life at us. All totally incredible if it wasn't loosely based round the genius Indian railway clerk, Rajamadhan, who merits a name check early in the movie. Excellent feel good movie.
