Boorman's sequel to William Friedkin's acclaimed The Exorcist went down like a lead balloon on release, and it's not difficult to see why. Despite boasting three of the original cast, there's only a very tenuous link with the original story, with Father Lamont tracing the source of Regan's possession back to the occult powers of a swarm of African locusts. Anyone expecting buckets of blood and obscenity will be sorely disappointed.
