FRANKIE AND JOHNNY (1991)
GARRY MARSHALL
Plot
The usually glam Michelle Pfeiffer sports lank hair and a greasy apron, but still looks gorgeous, to play world-weary waitress Frankie in this very engaging romantic comedy. After overdosing on a series of unsuitable men, Frankie is intent on staying single, but short-order cook Johnny (Al Pacino) has other ideas. Convinced they're a match made in Heaven, the lovable ex-con begins to break down her defences, but, as with all good romances, the course of true love runs far from smoothly. Pleasingly low-key with a script that rings true.
