Based on a true story about a bunch of privileged upper middle class LA kids who break into celebratory houses to vicariously, dysfunctionally live the dream of the fame game. So far so avoidable, but director Sofia Coppola has created a stylish, intriguing and often witty drama. Yes, her fixation on materially comfortable, yet emotionally vacuous protagonists is present and correct, but there are few contemporary directors who do this sort of thing with such flair. Ehrr… bangin’ soundtrack too!
