Fitfully claustrophobic submarine-set chamber drama based less on established historical fact than the conjecture, in Kenneth Sewell'sinvestigative book Red Star Rogue, that in 1968 the Soviets secretly planned to launch a stealth attack on Pearl Harbor in order to spark a nuclear war between China and the USA. The ever-reliable Ed Harris lends much-needed ballast as Demi, the disgraced naval captain whose One Last Job rather predicatably turns into a struggle to save the world from armageddon, but a leaden, perfunctory scriptsinks any real sense of urgency.
