Like most slightly ostracized teenagers, Peter Parker just wants a bit of meaning and focus in his life and when he discovers his long disappeared father’s briefcase he finds rather more than he bargained for; A journey that leads him to the malevolent Oscorp; his birth as Spiderman and the tortured Dr Conners, aka ‘The Lizard’ as his first foe. This is an almost indecently quick ‘re-boot’ of the still steaming cadaver of Toby Maguire’s trilogy, but it’s slick and fast, while being mercifully lighter and perhaps less moralising than those previous films.
