COSMOPOLIS (2012)
DAVID CRONENBERG
Cast
Plot
New York is in turmoil, the age of capitalism is drawing to a close and Eric Packer, a high finance golden boy is chauffeured across the city in his extravagant limousine to get a haircut. A visit from the President of the United States paralyses Manhattan and as the day goes by, chaos reigns in the streets and life begins to implode within the rarefied atmosphere of Eric’s car. Cosmopolis is a return to Cronenberg’s earlier dark, existential work. A series of increasingly disturbing and revealing vignettes brought to life by a fine cast and a lot of visual style. Not perfect by any means, but how often are populist films that are this daring?
