Mavis Gary, a 37-year-old former prom queen, and current writer of young adult novels, returns home to relive her glory days and win back her now-married high school sweetheart. When she finds her homecoming more challenging than expected and her nihilistic lonely existence at odds with the happy, sedantry existence of her old town Mavis begins to unravel. Young Adult is a clever, percetive and bitter sweet comedy, in turns brutally funny and squirmingly anguished.
