Lucy Fife Donaldson says: "Inspired by writer Will Reiser’s ownexperiences of being diagnosed with cancer, the film follows Adam’s (JosephGordon-Levitt) schwannoma neurofibrosarcoma diagnosis which leaves him a 50/50chance of survival and his subsequent dealings with chemotherapy and therapy.Seth Rogen is Adam’s best friend Kyle, who helps (and hinders) his progress.Gordon-Levitt is as watchable as ever, and he and Rogen have good chemistry.However, despite such promise I didn’t find it quite as charming as it thinksit is, particularly in its treatment of the female characters, who are bothunder-used and undermined: Will’s mother (Anjelica Huston), his girlfriend(Bryce Dallas Howard) and therapist (Anna Kendrick)."
