This companion piece to 'Band of Brothers', follows the story of 3 different marines during the war against Japan. 'The Pacific' is adapted from the memoirs of two of them, Eugene Sledge and Robert Leckie, and uses material from a third, Chuck Tatum, who fought alongside the third featured character, John Basilone. Part 1, Guadalcanal/Leckie; Robert Leckie and the 1st Marines land on Guadalcanal and take part in the Battle of the Tenaru. Part 2, Basilone; John Basilone and the 7th Marines land on Guadalcanal to bolster the defences around Henderson Field.
