THE INFIDEL (2009)
JOSH APPIGNANESI
Plot
Mahmud is a happily married 'relaxed' Muslim, whose life is thrown into disorder when he discovers that he was not only adopted but his real parents were Jewish. Mahmud turns to grumpy taxi-driver Len for a cultural course in Jewishness and the film is at its best when these two are together. With its roots in stand-up comedy 'Infidel' is an often extremely funny film replete with one liners and sketches. If it has a weakness the sub-plot of Mahmud's son getting hitched to a mujihad cleric's daughter isn't as good as the rest.
