In this sequel to Solondz's taboo busting film 'Happiness' 10 years have passed, child-rapist Bill is released from prison and his wife Trish and their children must deal with the consequences. Meanwhile Trish's sister Joy has her own marital problems. The cast may have changed, but 'Life During Wartime' is a worthy successor to 'Happiness', still breaking taboos, but with a more humane approach to human relationships. "Friends, family, and lovers struggle to find love, forgiveness, and meaning in a war-torn world riddled with comedy and pathos" - to quote the film's tag line.
