Plot

A 14-year-old girl has been raped and murdered and now watches from heaven as her family attempt to come to terms with what has happened. She watches her murderer and both wants to heal her family and stop him killing. This slightly disappointing adaptation of Alice Sebold's novel is unusual and uneven, to some it will appear enigmatic and moving and to others underwhelming. It could have benefited from a slightly darker tone and less of the visual fantasy, but what isn't in question is the acting, which is undeniably first rate.
