THE LAST STATION (2009)

Cast
Plot
During Tolstoy's last days a battle ensued around him for the valuable legacy of the publishing rights to War and Peace. The protagonists were Vladimir Chertkov and the Tolstoyan Movement, a group dedicated to communalisation, and Tolstoy's wife Sofya, who'd born him 13 children, and was desperate to keep her brood from destitution. Idealism versus family, the battle was waged in the octogenarian's country estate. A fine costume drama with stand-out performances from Plummer and, especially, Mirren.
