A photoshopped idyll of middle class American family life is how this sob fest begins (I ain't giving anything away, this is by the same author as ‘Notebook' for crying out loud). One of the daughters has cancer, so the parents deliberately have another child to provide a donor, said donor reaches an age when she becomes less enamoured about constantly going under the scalpel for her older sis and takes her parents (in particular the obsessive/deranged mum) to court for a stab at freedom (see what I'm doing here?.. forgive me). 'My Sister's Keeper' is a well acted and smoothly put together emotional drama that doesn't so much tug on the heart strings as plunge meat hooks into your torso and attach them to a speeding truck.
