THE BURNING PLAIN (2008)
GUILLERMO ARRIAGA
Plot
A non-linear tale of troubled family relationships criss-crossing the Tex-Mex border; a seemingly happy family woman is having an illicit affair with a Mexican man, but her daughter is becoming suspicious, two teenagers start an affair heavily disapproved of by their respective families, a young motherless Mexican girl sees her father crash his crop dusting plane and a guilt ridden Portland restaurant manager struggles to retain relationships with men. The stories interconnect, in a not unobvious way, with life defining consequences in this decent drama from the screenwriter of 'Babel', '21 Grams', 'The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada' and 'Amores Perros'.
