Nature gets pissy with humanity's wanton ecological destruction of the planet and decides on a bit of people culling. Some might argue that the above is a plot spoiler, but I'd argue that's Mr M Night Shyamalan's responsibility. Frightening and ominous only for those whose bowels loosen at the rustle of the wind in the trees. For the rest of us 'The Happening' is like a slightly surreal comedy with all the jokes meticulously removed and it was nominated Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay, Worst Actor (Mark Wahlberg, along with his performance in Max Payne) and Worst Director (M Night Shyamalan) at the 29th Golden Raspberry Awards.
