1408 (2007)
MIKAEL HAFSTROM
Plot
Mike, who writes successful books debunking 'supernatural' phenomena, is lured into spending a night in a New York hotel... Room 1408. Although the first half hour or so promises little more than a rather standard haunted room flick once his total isolation from the outside world becomes apparent we enter a genuinely scary and surreal world where he is forced to fight to retain his sanity. Unable to leave this 'cell of death' he is assaulted not only by malevolent demons but his own painful memories, his fear relieved only by bizarre communications with his ex-wife (and dead daughter) and hope giving escape chances, which, alas, always close down for him. Surreal stuff only let down by a rather soggy Hollywood style ending.
