Tracy Turnblad is a big girl with a big dream, to dance on "The Corny Collins Show", but when she finally gets to live her dream Tracy discovers that all is not as beautiful and shiny as she imagined and this being 1962, America still has a long way to go with racial equality. Adapted from John Waters' cult classic, 'Hairspray' is a delightfully upbeat and vibrant musical. Of course if the word ‘musical' attached to the word ‘film' conjures up the image of the grim reaper's clammy hand resting firmly on your shoulder, then you know what to do; for everyone else….enjoy.
