THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE THE BEGINNING (2006)

JONATHAN LIEBESMAN

Plot

The latest in a long line of slick, Hollywood horrors that take as their inspiration the dirty, Grindhouse exploitation flicks of the 1970s. This time it's a prequel to the cult classic 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'. Despite being marketed as an explanation of how Thomas Hewitt became the notorious 'Leatherface' 'The Beginning' is really about what all the other TCM's have been about; pretty young things being chased, abducted and brutally chopped up. It's violent, bloody and fairly faithful to the atmosphere of the original which should be applauded. Better than the 2003 remake.
