Plot
A middle class wife and mother, bored and frustrated with her monotonous existence, embarks on a passionate affair with a younger man, a relationship that despite its potentially horrendous cost re-awakens in her a lust for life that she finds impossible to cast aside. Malle's second film won the Special Jury prize at the 1958 Venice Film Festival and proved a stunning early showcase for the iconic Jeanne Moreau.
