Plot

Grace has left behind the horrors of Dogville and after a chance meeting with a young black girl in Alabama she and her father come across the curious historical aberration of Manderlay, a plantation still running under the age old workings of slavery. Grace is appalled by the workers' lack of freedom and becomes determined to initiate their freedom regardless of what the people, who know the value of simple survival, want.
