YES (2004)
SALLY POTTER
Plot
No names, a loveless marriage and a script done entirely in verse, Yes is the latest film from Sally Potter, a visually beautiful Romance between two damaged people, one an eminent scientist the other a Lebanese doctor, forced from his homeland and now working as a cook. The passion of the two at first consumes them but as their relationship deepens so "he" begins to feel the immense cultural divide that exists and their differences begin to tear what they have found apart. Perhaps Potter's most accessible film to date there is still an emotional aloofness to the work, an art-house sensibility that repels as many as it attracts.
