Dicky Pilager does not come across as a particularly bright man, easily rattled and inarticulate the fact that he's a senator is perturbing, the idea that he might become the governor of Colorado and from there a possible Presidential candidate, alarming. Family wealth and a ruthless father however see Dicky continue to rise up the political ladder, but when a PI is hired after an unfortunate fishing incident, what he begins to uncover goes far beyond a simple smear campaign. Silver City is a deliciously well executed satirical thriller from the master of understated sophistication, John Sayles.
