SALEM'S LOT (2004)
MIKAEL SALOMON
Plot
A new adaptation of one of Stephen King's finest sees Rob Lowe playing the part of Ben Mears, a writer still haunted by childhood terrors, who returns to his hometown to lay ghosts to rest and write a book about the truth of small-town life. When he arrives he realises that he is not the only stranger in town, two mysterious antique dealers have set up shop and moved into the old Marsten House, a house that dominates 'Salem's Lot ',and the nightmares of its residents. Those nightmares soon become a grim reality as people start disappearing and dying at an alarming rate. As familiar and comforting as an old pullover, this adaptation rings all the right bells, it has a great cast and deviates enough from the David Soul classic to avoid remake status. The perfect film for a quiet, cosy night in with your loved one... just make sure all your windows are locked.
