The Villa Des Roses is a crumbling boarding house on the outskirts of Paris, Its idiosyncracy is the eccentric English couple who run it, determined in their Britishness and the providers for an equally eclectic selection of guests. Into this restrained madhouse comes Louise, the new maid, and unwitting witness to the turmoil that will be caused by the imminent arrival of World War One. Dry, dark and rich in atmosphere Villa Des Roses is a delightfully oddball tale.
