THE BIG KAHUNA (1999)
JOHN SWANBECK
Plot
Kevin Spacey and Danny DeVito play two world weary and varyingly cynical salesman who've rented a hotel suite and are awaiting the opportunity to sweet talk, with a mixture of booze and nibbles, some new clients. Bob is the clean living young rookie sent to join the old hands, and it is he that inadvertently provides the catalyst for a night of self-doubt, self-loathing, dry quips and revaluation. The Big Kahuna is taken from the stage play Hospitality Suite, and does little more than place the original onto celluloid; a sharp, witty comic drama it unfortunately encourages too many comparisons with the mesmerising tour de force that is Glengarry Glen Ross.
