WILBUR WANTS TO KILL HIMSELF (2002)
LONE SCHERFIG
Plot
Harbour's brother, Wilbur, is pathologically suicidal, so when the two men inherit an old bookshop in Glasgow it would seem the perfect opportunity for Harbour to help his sibling find a reason to live. After another failed attempt to do away with himself, Wilbur falls in love with a shy single mother and an unusual if tenderly harmonious family develops within the bookshop, but while happiness reigns, Harbour prepares to break some news that may well tip his brother back over the edge. "Wilbur Wants To Kill Himself" is a beautifully told and performed tale from the director of the excellent Italian For Beginners'; moving, witty, thoughtful and determined to leave the world at least as happy as it was when it arrived.
