Steve Baxter is found wandering the moors after 40 days and 40 nights, almost incoherent but utterly convinced that he is the son of God. Where this story takes a twist is that Steve, far from a slavering loon, really is the son of God and in order to convince a sceptical world he performs a miracle. Steve's mission is to save humanity from a fast impending Judgement Day, no easy task, regardless of who your dad is. The Second Coming is a fine drama from the writer of Queer As Folk', thought provoking, at times nail-biting, and with a cracking central performance from Eccleston. For all faiths, and none.
